Tinubu Fires Starting Gun, Tasks Oyebamiji to Win Back Osun for APC

President Bola Tinubu has hailed the emergence of Bola Oyebamiji as the All Progressives Congress (APC) governorship flagbearer in Osun, charging him to lead the party back to power in the 2026 election.

Oyebamiji clinched the party’s ticket on Saturday during the APC primary election held in Osogbo, where delegates unanimously affirmed his candidature.

In a statement released on Saturday in Abuja by his spokesperson, Mr Bayo Onanuga, Tinubu stressed that the task ahead for the APC candidate is to mobilise the party and reclaim Osun for the progressive family.

The president applauded the Osun APC leadership for conducting a peaceful and unified primary through affirmation, describing the process as a strong signal of internal harmony and reconciliation.

He also praised other aspirants who withdrew from the race in support of Oyebamiji, noting that their decision reflected deep loyalty and commitment to the party’s collective interest.

Tinubu further advised the governorship candidate to show humility in victory by reaching out to party leaders and former aspirants to keep the APC united ahead of the main contest.

“The journey to reclaim Osun for the progressives’ fold in the 2026 governorship election has begun.
“I urge all the members and leaders of APC in the state to remain focused, united and resolute.
“Victory is achievable, and together, we will succeed,” he said.

The primary election was chaired by Edo State Governor, Monday Okpebholo, as enthusiastic delegates endorsed Oyebamiji without dissent.
