A bomb explosion has killed four scavengers in Banki, a town in Bama Local Government Area of Borno State.
The incident happened on Friday. According to a community source, the victims had picked up the explosive device, thinking it was metal scrap, and brought it into the town.
“They thought it was scrap metal. When they tried to dismantle it, the bomb exploded and killed all four of them instantly,” the source said.
Authorities have yet to issue an official statement as of the time of reporting.
