Nigeria’s Growth Depends on MSMEs -Siasia

Mr. Moses Siasia, Founder of the Niger Delta Young Professionals (NDYP), has reaffirmed that Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) are indispensable to job creation and long-term economic stability in Nigeria.
He made this known in a statement on Tuesday ahead of the 5th Niger Delta MSME Summit billed for December 9 in Yenagoa.
Siasia explained that the upcoming forum, which is projected to attract over 1,000 young entrepreneurs and business operators, is designed to empower MSMEs with practical knowledge, guidance and strategic support to scale their ventures and boost employment across the Niger Delta.
“The event aims to strengthen MSMEs as a major engine of job creation and economic diversification in the Niger Delta and the wider Nigerian economy.”
He stated that this year’s theme, “Enhancing the Role of MSMEs as Drivers of Sustainable Growth and Innovation,” underscores the increasing relevance of small enterprises in tackling unemployment and curbing economic marginalisation.
Reflecting on the impact of earlier editions, Siasia noted that many participants had secured grants, financing and other business support structures, including access to the NIRSAL Intervention Loan, which supported more than 400 entrepreneurs in 2021.
He stressed that the Niger Delta and Nigeria as a whole must align with a future anchored on innovation, technology, agriculture, renewable energy and a knowledge-driven economy, with MSMEs positioned as the foundation of this transformation.
