New COAS Reshuffles Senior Officers to Boost Operational Efficiency

The Chief of Army Staff (COAS), Lieutenant General Waidi Shaibu, has approved a major reshuffle in the Nigerian Army to strengthen leadership, improve command structures, and enhance operational efficiency across the force on Thursday.

In a Press release obtained by The News Chronicle, the Nigerian Army announced new postings in which Major General Bamidele Alabi was moved to the Army Headquarters as Chief of Policy and Plans.

Major General Jamal Abdulsalam will now serve at the Defence Headquarters as Chief of Defence Operations, while Major General Peter Mala has been appointed Commander of Training and Doctrine Command. Major General Samson Jiya is now Chief of Defence Accounts and Budget.

Other key appointments include Major General Mayirenso Saraso as Chief of Operations (Army), Major General Isa Abdullahi as Chief of Administration (Army), and Major General Musa Etsu-Ndagi as Chief of Civil-Military Affairs. Major General Abubakar Haruna has been appointed Commander of the Nigerian Army Training Centre, and Major General Philip Ilodibia is now Chief of Defence Space Administration.

Additionally, Major General Godwin Mutkut will lead the Infantry Corps, Major General Umar Abubakar will command the Armour Corps, Major General John Adeyemo will head the Artillery Corps, and Major General Mohammed Abdullahi will command the Signals Corps.

The Army also appointed Major General Taofik Sidick as Chief of Accounts and Budget (Army), Major General Abdullahi Ibrahim to lead the Ordnance Corps, Major General Adeyinka Adereti to head the Electrical and Mechanical Engineers Corps, and Major General Nansak Shagaya to command the Supply and Transport Corps. Brigadier General Yusha’u Ahmed becomes Acting Corps Commander, Education.

For training institutions, Major General Oluyemi Olatoye is now Commandant of the Nigerian Defence Academy (NDA).

Major General Emmanuel Mustapha will command the Nigerian Army Signal School, Major General Adamu Hassan will lead the Nigerian Army School of Artillery, and Brigadier General John Bulus will head the Nigerian Army School of Finance and Accounts.

In field appointments, Major General Saidu Audu is the new Force Commander of the Multinational Joint Task Force (MNJTF) in N’Djamena.

Major General Warrah Idris will command Operation FANSAN YAMMA in the North West, and Major General Oluremi Fadairo becomes General Officer Commanding 82 Division and Commander of Operation UDO KA in the South East.

Major General Olatokumbo Bello is appointed Director of Defence Media Operations, while Brigadier General Samaila Uba becomes Director of Defence Information.

Lieutenant General Shaibu urged the newly appointed officers to use their experience and leadership skills to strengthen discipline, maintain operational momentum, and tackle current and emerging security threats.

He also emphasized loyalty, integrity, teamwork, and excellence in upholding the values of the Nigerian Army.
