BREAKING: Nationwide Darkness as Grid Collapses Again

Nigeria was plunged into darkness on Wednesday after the national grid suffered a major collapse, sending electricity generation crashing from 2,917.83 megawatts (MW) to just 1.5 MW within an hour.

The Abuja Electricity Distribution Company (AEDC) confirmed the blackout in a statement on its official X handle, blaming the outage on a “loss of supply from the national grid at 11:23 am.”

The company stated that it is collaborating with stakeholders to restore supply across its franchise areas.

“Rest assured, we are working closely with the relevant stakeholders to ensure power is restored once the grid is stabilized. Thank you for your patience and understanding,” the AEDC noted.
