Borno State Governor, Babagana Zulum, has removed two commissioners from office as part of efforts to improve governance and service delivery.
The cabinet reshuffle was announced in a statement issued on Thursday by the governor’s spokesperson, Dauda Iliya.
The affected officials are the Commissioner for Environment and the Commissioner for Intergovernmental and Special Duties. Governor Zulum thanked them for their service and wished them success in their future endeavors.
He also named Engr. Mohammed Habib and Ibrahim Hala Hassan are to take over their roles as new commissioners.
Professor Balami Appointed as Head of Secondary Education Board
In a related development, Governor Zulum has appointed Professor Yusuf Gana Balami as the Executive Chairman of the Borno State Secondary Education Board.
Professor Balami, an expert in Educational Psychology, hails from Hawul in southern Borno.
He previously worked with the Borno State Ministry of Education from 1984 to 1988 before joining the University of Maiduguri, where he rose through the ranks and became a professor in 2014.
He is a member of various professional organizations and has written numerous academic publications.
Governor Zulum congratulated Professor Balami on his appointment and encouraged him to use his vast experience in education to improve the quality of secondary education in the state.
All the new appointments have been forwarded to the Borno State House of Assembly for confirmation.
