Former Director General of the Federal Radio Corporation of Nigeria (FRCN), Ladan Salihu, has blasted the Tinubu administration over what he described as a “reckless attitude of borrowing” while failing to tackle the core issues of poverty and insecurity.
Speaking in an interview with Arise News on Tuesday monitored by The News Chronicle, Salihu accused the government of prioritizing wealth creation for the ruling elite through ill-conceived projects that fall short of public expectations.
Lamenting that the jump in Nigeria’s debt profile since Tinubu took office is alarming, Ladan warned that Nigeria is hurtling toward a financial crisis.
Ladan, a member of the African Democratic Congress (ADC), also criticized the government ’s decision to borrow funds to support Generation Companies (GENCOs), insisting such loans lack transparency and due diligence.
“If we must borrow, it should be tied to clear, people-centered projects not vanity ventures that don’t improve lives,” he added.
