2027: We Need New Faces, I Won’t Join Them —Dumebi Rejects Opposition Coalition, Vows Legal Action

Spokesman of the African Democratic Congress (ADC), Bolaji Abdullahi, has defended the party’s involvement in the new opposition coalition, saying it aims to build a disciplined and reform-minded political system, even if it comprises familiar political faces.

Speaking during an interview with Arise News on Thursday, monitored by The News Chronicle, Abdullahi dismissed concerns over factionalism and legal hurdles within the ADC.

He described Dumebi Kachikwu’s objections as “immaterial,” noting that the former presidential candidate was suspended before the coalition’s formation.

We want to build a disciplined party—one that can hold its members accountable,” Abdullahi said.

In a swift reaction during the interview, Dumebi Kachikwu, ADC’s 2023 presidential candidate, rejected the coalition’s purpose and approach, insisting that old politicians cannot fix problems created by their peers.

“I’m not with Tinubu, but I won’t join a coalition whose sole aim is to unseat him,” Dumebi said, vowing to challenge the coalition in court. “We need new faces. I won’t work with them.”
