APC Sets July 24 NEC Meeting to Decide New National Chairman

The All Progressives Congress (APC) has fixed July 24 for its National Executive Committee (NEC) meeting in Abuja to decide whether Ali Bukar Dalori will continue as acting national chairman or if a new substantive leader will be appointed.

The party’s Deputy National Secretary, Festus Fuanter, disclosed this Monday after a National Working Committee (NWC) meeting in Abuja.

Dalori, Deputy National Chairman (North), was endorsed as acting chairman following the resignation of former chairman Abdullahi Ganduje, who cited health reasons after a visit to President Bola Tinubu.

Fuanter said the NEC, as the party’s highest decision-making body, will ratify the NWC’s decisions or nominate a new chairman, with a final decision to be made at the party’s national convention.

“The NEC has the final say on the substantive chairman. The suggested date for the meeting is July 24, here at the APC headquarters,” he said.

Fuanter also noted that preparations for upcoming by-elections are underway, adding that the party will soon unveil its plans for national and state congresses.

Dalori, in his remarks, pledged to reposition the APC and strengthen grassroots engagement. “This is not a personal victory. I will lead with transparency, unity, and purpose,” he said, urging party members to stay united ahead of the 2027 elections.

He reiterated the party’s support for President Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda, calling it “a living roadmap” for Nigeria’s transformation.

APC National Secretary, Ajibola Basiru, formally presented Ganduje’s resignation to the NWC, which unanimously accepted it and confirmed Dalori as acting chairman in line with the party’s constitution
