Hisbah Operatives Rescue 16 Trafficked Girls in Kano

Hisbah officials in Kano have rescued 16 underage girls from being trafficked at a luxury bus station in Unguwa Uku.

Speaking about the operation on Sunday Night, the Deputy Commandant of Hisbah, Mujahid Aminuddeen Abubakar, explained.

“Our operatives at the motor park intercepted individuals attempting to traffic underage girls to Lagos, from where they would be transported to Benin Republic, then to Ghana. In Ghana, fake passports would be prepared for the victims before they were sent to various Arab countries.

“All the girls are minors and unaware of the situation. Some of them could have died, been sold into slavery, forced into prostitution, or made to work as domestic slaves. This act is illegal and deeply inhumane.

“Unfortunately, the victims are all Hausa, with nine from Kano, four from Katsina, two from Jigawa, and one from Borno.”

He urged parents to be more vigilant and to avoid putting their children at risk for financial gain.

“Parents must protect their children and resist the lure of wealth at the expense of their safety. Trafficking only leads to slavery and suffering for these innocent girls,” he warned.
