God rest the gentle souls of the Nigerian children lost to food stampede.
What needs to be done.
The Paediatric Association of Nigeria  has come up with some suggestions for the safety of children at events management centres.
I would add that they should formalise it by publishing a handbook, perhaps to be compulsorily purchased by the events centres across Nigeria.
Secondly, there is perhaps a need to regulate and professionalise events management in Nigeria. In addition to compulsory insurance, there ought to be a Nigerian Institute of Events Management.
Now, it’s a good thing President Bola Tinubu has come up with Tax reforms. Suddenly, the 100 million economically active Nigerians are speaking up and taking extra interest in Government activity, all because the government wants to take some of their money as tax.
Great! It has been said that we need a crisis to ginger up Nigerians. Crisis has not worked, Tax has worked because Nigerians live money!!
We have to zero in on Nigerians’ newfound interest in government and build the Nigeria of our dreams on it. It’s doable.
There are entrepreneurial gaps for democratic or political education.
I can conjecture that most of us are illiterates as far as the workings of governments are concerned. We need a critical mass of people who understand the national assembly procedures, the way of the judiciary and the workings of the presidency and the Bureaucracy.
We can have books, booklets, pamphlets, podcasts. Tiktoks. YouTube documentaries, films, cinema, blogs, websites, audiobooks, videocassettes, vinyl, books, workshops, public lectures, seminars, conferences and online courses on the following
1 how to be an effective citizen of Nigeria
2 your rights and duties as a citizen of Nigeria
3 how democracy works in Nigeria.
4 how to engage the national assembly or the judiciary or the presidency or the Bureaucracy.
5 how to be an effective politician
6 How to win Election
7 How to recall a nonperforming elected representative.
8 How to engage or make the most of the Ministry of Health or Education or Agriculture, etc
9 Your duties and rights as a Taxpayer.
10. Why do we pay taxes?
These are just examples of the entrepreneurial Gaps out there to be filled because the purchasing power is out there. 100 million economically active Nigerians embracing democracy. That’s the spirit.!!
A critical mass and then a capture chain reaction like they say in nuclear physics.., then we are fine.
