The Anambra State Directorate of the National Orientation Agency (NOA), over the weekend, visited strategic places across the state as part of its activities to inaugurate its nationwide sensitization programme on the National Value Charter and New National Anthem.
The Directorate visited strategic places in Awka, the state capital, including the popular Aroma junction, Nkwo Amaenyi, and Jerome Udoji Secretariat.
During the visit, officials of the directorate took time to enlighten the people on the essence of the Value Charter and the National Anthem and the benefits of the new national development agenda.
Addressing the mammoth crowd that assembled at the popular Arroma junction in Awka during the programme, the Anambra State Director, NOA, Mr. Edozie Ajaegbu, said the present government in the country, under President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, has initiated favourable policies geared towards holistic alleviation of the people’s abysmal problems.
He highlighted some of the policies, including the student loan scheme, the Compressed Natural Gas(CNG) initiative, economic reforms, the social welfare initiative, energy sector reforms, and infrastructural development.
According to him, although people are experiencing a lot of hardship, it is important that they realize that things may not change overnight.
He expressed the belief that, with some of the policies, many things will begin to change for the better in the future.
He said, “The anthem has been carefully crafted to reflect the aspirations, dreams, and values of modern Nigeria. It emphasizes unity. integrity, and progress while honoring the sacrifices of those who came before us.
“This anthem is more than just a song; it is a rallying cry for every Nigerian to contribute positively to the growth of our nation. It is a reminder that regardless of our differences in culture, ethnicity, or religion, we are bound by one identity: Nigeria.
“From schools to public institutions, we want every Nigerian to sing the anthem with pride and conviction, knowing that they are part of a collective movement for national progress.”
Ajaegbu noted that the Value Charter outlines core principles of democracy, equality, transparency, peace, respect for diversity, and integrity and provides a moral compass for citizens and the government.
“The Charter establishes mutual expectations, where the government pledges accountability and the citizens uphold their civic duties. The Charter contains the responsibility of both the elected persons and the citizens towards building a better nation,” he said.
Also, at Nkwo Amaenyi, the Deputy Director of Administration, Barrister Ifeoma Chijioke, urged the citizens to sing the national anthem with pride and have faith in the country.
At Jerome Udoji Secretariat, Awka, the Deputy Director Programmes, Mr Remigius Obi, and the Assistant Director of Programmes, Mr Ignatius Obiorah, urged Nigerians to embrace the present winds of change in the country with enthusiasm under President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s led administration with a view to shaping the country’s future for the better.
