The Director General of the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC), Brigadier General YD Ahmed, has urged Heads of Information and Communication Technology (ICT) across NYSC Secretariat to keep up with the latest digital skills.Â
He emphasized that adopting these skills is essential for keeping up with technological advancements, improving operational efficiency, ensuring data security, and driving digital innovation within the organization.
The Director General made this statement during a technical training workshop for ICT Heads held in Abuja at the weekend.
The workshop, themed “Operations of Critical Branches on the NYSC Integrated System (NIS) Supportive Role of Heads of ICT Units in the States/FCT Secretariat,” highlighted the importance of ICT officers in supporting NYSC’s key operations through the NIS platform.
Representing the Director General, Mr. Chris Jimba, Director of Procurement, highlighted the rapid evolution of information technology, with new tools, systems, and processes emerging regularly.
General Ahmed also encouraged the ICT Officers to fully engage in the training to make the most of the resources provided, which will help enhance both their skills and performance.
In her opening remarks, the Director of Information and Communication Technology, Hajiya Aminat Arunah, discussed the transformative impact of IT developments on NYSC’s operations over the past decade.
She noted that advances in IT have unified and streamlined NYSC’s processes across all formations.
Hajiya Arunah assured participants of the Director General’s commitment to creating an environment that supports their work.
She also expressed appreciation for the continuous dedication of ICT Heads across various NYSC Secretariat and encouraged them to stay committed, as this dedication is key to strengthening NYSC’s ICT framework.
