FirstBank to Launch Cloud-Based Platform, Warns of Temporary Disruptions

FirstBank of Nigeria is set to migrate its procurement and financial platform to a cloud-based system, starting from Saturday, October 26, 2024.

This shift aims to enhance the bank’s efficiency in handling vendor payments and procurement processes. However, this transition could result in temporary service disruptions.

The migration is expected to conclude by Sunday, November 3, 2024, with the new system set to go live on Monday, November 4.

Vendors are encouraged to submit any outstanding invoices by Friday, October 25, to avoid delays in processing payments.

The existing Electronic Business Suite (EBS) will be phased out once the new cloud platform is operational. FirstBank has assured its suppliers that detailed guidelines and training materials will be provided before the transition.

Transactions related to the current system will be paused to ensure a seamless changeover.

While the shift is primarily focused on improving vendor operations, it is not anticipated to impact FirstBank’s core customer banking services.

The bank’s move follows similar upgrades by other major Nigerian banks, which encountered challenges that affected customer access.

FirstBank aims to avoid such setbacks, ensuring a smooth digital transformation.

The adoption of cloud technology reflects a growing trend among Nigerian banks seeking to boost resilience and enhance digital services in a competitive market.
