FG Plans AI Integration for Infrastructure Security

—

The Nigerian government is focusing on incorporating Artificial Intelligence (AI) technology to enhance the protection of its national infrastructure.

At the 2024 Cybersecurity Conference, Vice President Kashim Shettima outlined the importance of strengthening cybersecurity as a means to boost economic growth.
Organized by the Central Securities Clearing System PLC (CSCS) and the Office of the National Security Adviser (ONSA), the event emphasized the government’s intention to integrate AI solutions for infrastructure security.
During the conference, the Vice President highlighted efforts led by the National Security Adviser, Nuhu Ribadu, to create a secure digital environment that encourages investment.
CSCS leadership, represented by CEO Haruna Jalo-Waziri, was also acknowledged for its role in advancing Nigeria’s capital market.
The conference addressed the dual impact of AI in cybersecurity.
While AI enhances capabilities to prevent threats, it also poses new vulnerabilities.
Participants discussed the importance of proactive measures to address these risks and the need for resilient infrastructure to effectively support AI-driven security efforts.
Key sectors including technology, finance, and military were represented at the event, exploring ways to protect critical systems against evolving cyber threats.
