The Director General of the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC), Brigadier General Yusha’u Dogara Ahmed, expressed his sincere appreciation to the Nigerian Communications Satellite (NigComSat) on Wednesday for its readiness to support the operations of NYSC Television.
This gesture is expected to significantly improve the quality of the television station’s broadcast services.
The General acknowledged the commitment of NigComSat under the leadership of its Managing Director, Engineer Nkechi Jane Egerton-Idehen, for their willingness to partner with the NYSC in such a crucial area.
During a meeting held at the NYSC Headquarters in Abuja, Brigadier General Ahmed emphasized that the NYSC, in line with its mandate to mobilize Nigerian graduate youths for national development, is always open to collaborations that enhance the capabilities of the organization.
He expressed his commitment to ensuring that the support from NigComSat would be met with full cooperation from the NYSC, promising that all necessary measures would be taken to make the collaboration successful.
The Director General highlighted the NYSC’s role in national development, stating that the scheme remains committed to providing skilled manpower to various sectors of the Nigerian economy.
He reiterated that the NYSC has for decades served as a vital source of human resources for government agencies and private sector organizations across the country.
Earlier in her remarks, NigComSat’s Managing Director, Engineer Nkechi Jane Egerton-Idehen, reiterated her agency’s commitment to providing satellite services for telecommunications, security, and television stations, adding that supporting the NYSC Television is in line with NigComSat’s mandate.
She pointed out that Nigeria is among a select few African nations that have successfully launched their own satellites, a testament to the country’s progress in technological advancement.
Engineer Egerton-Idehen expressed NigComSat’s enthusiasm for the partnership with NYSC, assuring that the agency is well-prepared to offer the necessary technical support to ensure that NYSC Television achieves its full potential. She further commended the NYSC for its invaluable contributions to Nigeria’s development over the past five decades.
By deploying graduate youths to various sectors, NYSC has not only provided skilled labor but also played a crucial role in nation-building.
The Managing Director praised the NYSC’s enduring legacy of supplying free manpower to numerous organizations, noting that this has had a significant positive impact on both the public and private sectors of the Nigerian economy.
