Oxlade Celebrates Ghanaian Support in His Music Journey

—

Afrobeat sensation Oxlade has recently opened up about his experiences as a Nigerian artist, sharing that he feels a greater sense of love and support from Ghana than from his own country.

This appreciation for his Ghanaian fans is reflected in his decision to collaborate with legendary hip-hop artist Sarkodie on his debut album, Oxlade from Africa.

In a recent interview, Oxlade expressed his heartfelt gratitude for the warm welcome he has received from the Ghanaian music scene. He described it as a refreshing change compared to the challenges he encounters in Nigeria.

He also took a moment to address some earlier comments he made on social media about feeling boycotted and blackmailed by “OGs” in the industry.

Oxlade explained that his frustration comes from a feeling of being controlled by others who try to dictate his career path, saying, “I hate the mindset of people trying to play god… When they feel like they can determine your trajectory.”

He elaborated that some of these issues stem from non-musical reasons, like misunderstandings regarding respect and greetings.

Rather than name names or escalate the situation, Oxlade prefers to keep his focus on what he loves most: his music.

“Sometimes, it’s because they feel I see them outside and I don’t greet them well,” he shared.
