Skales Opens Up About Writing Hit Songs for Wizkid During Their Time at EME

Popular Nigerian singer Raoul John Njeng-Njeng, better known as Skales, recently shared some surprising details about his early music career.

According to the singer, he contributed to many of Wizkid’s hit songs during their time together at Empire Mates Entertainment (EME).

Skales made this revelation while speaking on the show Curiosity Made Me Ask, hosted by content creator Bae U Barbie. He disclosed that he co-wrote several songs on Wizkid’s debut album, Superstar, including the bonus track “Wiz Party.”

Interestingly, the collaboration wasn’t one-sided. Skales admitted that Wizkid also helped him write some of his own songs, including the popular track “Mukulu.”

“Back in EME, we worked as a team, writing songs for each other,” Skales explained. “I wrote some songs for Wizkid, and he did the same for me. He even wrote ‘Mukulu’ for me, and I wrote ‘Wiz Party’ for him. EME was all about teamwork.”

Wizkid and Skales were among the first artists signed to EME by R&B singer and music executive, Banky W, in the early 2010s. Their time with the label played a major role in launching both artists into stardom.

However, after some disagreements with Banky W, the two stars eventually parted ways with the label. In a past interview with Ebuka Obi-Uchendu, Banky W revealed that Wizkid still owed EME three albums under his original contract when he left.
