Nigerian Army 6 Brigade Jalingo to Conduct 2024 Annual Range Exercise from September 17 to 19

The 6 Brigade of the Nigerian Army, stationed in Jalingo, Taraba State, has announced that it will begin its 2024 Annual Range Classification Exercise, Phase 2, from Tuesday, September 17 to Thursday, September 19, 2024.
The announcement was made by Olubodunde Ooni, the Acting Assistant Director of Army Public Relations for the 6 Brigade, through a statement issued in Jalingo on Tuesday.
According to the statement, the exercise will take place at the Military Range in Jimlari and will involve a series of shooting drills aimed at enhancing the weapon-handling skills and overall maintenance abilities of army personnel.
The exercise will focus on improving the proficiency of soldiers in the effective use of their firearms.
“The shooting exercise will be undertaken by unit personnel to enhance their weapon handling and maintenance ability, among other key military skills,” Ooni said in the statement.
As part of the exercise, there will be a significant movement of troops and military equipment, including the firing of live ammunition at the designated Military Range in Jimlari.
Ooni reassured the public that all necessary safety measures have been put in place to ensure the protection of lives and property during the exercise.
To prevent any unnecessary panic, Ooni advised members of the public not to be alarmed by the activity in the area.
He further urged people to avoid the vicinity of the 114 Battalion Rear Jimlari Shooting Range throughout the duration of the exercise to ensure their safety.
“In view of this, members of the public are kindly requested to stay away from the 114 Battalion Rear Jimlari Shooting Range area during the entire period of the exercise,” the statement emphasized.
Ooni also appealed to the media to assist in disseminating this information widely, particularly by translating it into various local languages for broader reach.
“Please accept the assurance and esteemed regards of the Brigade Commander, Kingsley Uwa,” Ooni concluded.
The Annual Range Classification is a routine exercise aimed at sharpening the operational readiness of military personnel, ensuring they maintain high standards in weapon handling and tactical skills.
