Brazilian Court Orders Immediate Suspension of Elon Musk’s X Over Legal Dispute

A Brazilian Supreme Court judge has ordered the immediate suspension of Elon Musk’s social media network, X, previously known as Twitter, due to its failure to comply with a directive to appoint a new legal representative.

The National Telecommunications Agency (Anatel) has been instructed to enforce the suspension within the next 24 hours.
App stores have been given a five-day deadline to comply with the order.
Failure to adhere to the ban, including attempts to bypass it using VPNs, will result in daily fines of $8,874.
The conflict between Musk and Judge Alexandre de Moraes, who is actively tackling disinformation in Brazil, has escalated.
X, which boasts over 22 million users in Brazil, saw Musk previously shut down its business operations in the country, citing threats to its former legal representative.
The situation worsened when Moraes ordered the suspension of accounts linked to Bolsonaro supporters, prompting further judicial actions against Musk.
Additionally, Musk’s satellite internet service, Starlink, has faced financial restrictions in Brazil due to related legal complications.
