WHO Reveals Amount Needed To Combat Mpox Outbreak

The World Health Organization (WHO) has announced that it requires $87.4 million over the next six months to support global efforts to control the ongoing Mpox outbreak.
This funding will be allocated to collaborative efforts with nations, partners, and other entities in line with the Strategic Preparedness and Response Plan (SPRP) unveiled on August 26.
The SPRP provides a detailed framework for managing the Mpox crisis, focusing on surveillance, research, fair access to medical interventions, and community involvement.
Since the global emergency declaration on August 14, the WHO has outlined its financial needs to sustain its operations from September 2024 to February 2025.
The funds will support activities across the WHO’s headquarters, regional offices, and country offices, enabling effective response coordination, technical assistance, operational management, and medical supply distribution.
In light of this, the WHO is urging donors to contribute the necessary funds to mitigate the outbreak’s impact and safeguard at-risk populations.
