Instagram has rolled out a new feature that allows users to add a 30-second song clip to their profile, reminiscent of a popular feature on the once-dominant social platform, Myspace.
This update offers users a fresh way to personalize their profiles by adding a musical touch that reflects their current mood, favorite tune, or personal brand.
The selected song will appear prominently in the user’s profile description, though it will not play automatically.
Visitors must tap on the song to listen, offering a controlled and non-intrusive way to share music with followers.
Instagram has launched this feature in collaboration with singer Sabrina Carpenter, who used it to preview her upcoming song “Taste” on her profile, giving fans a sneak peek of her latest work directly through the platform.
How to Add a Song to Your Profile:
1. Open Instagram and navigate to your profile.
2. Tap the ‘Edit Profile’ button and select the ‘Music’ option.
3. Browse the list or search for a specific song.
4. Choose a 30-second segment of the song to feature on your profile.
Once added, the song will stay on the user’s profile until it is manually changed or removed. Users are limited to one song at a time, ensuring that their profile’s soundtrack is always up to date with their current preference.
In addition to the profile song feature, Instagram is testing several other updates.
These include a redesigned profile grid that aims to improve the aesthetic appeal of users’ profiles and a Snapchat-like feature that allows friends to stay updated on each other’s locations, adding another layer of real-time connection to the app.
Instagram’s latest moves are part of its ongoing effort to enhance user experience and keep pace with evolving social media trends, providing new ways for users to express themselves and interact with their audience.
