Former Minister Isa Pantami Condemns Brutal Killing of Sokoto District Head Isa Bawa

The former Minister of Communications and Digital Economy, Isa Pantami has expressed deep sorrow and condemnation over the brutal killing of Alhaji Isa Muhammad Bawa, the district head of Gatawa in Sokoto State.
The district head had been kidnapped alongside his son on July 27, 2023, by suspected bandits. The tragic news of his death in captivity was confirmed on Tuesday by Shuaibu Gobir, the Magaji (traditional leader) of the town.
In a heartfelt message posted on X (formerly Twitter) on Wednesday evening, Pantami extended his condolences to the family of the deceased, as well as to the entire Gobir Emirate.
He described the killing as a “brutal and inhuman” act, carried out by criminals who are terrorizing the region through kidnapping and violence.
Pantami, a prominent political figure, expressed his grief and offered prayers for the late district head.
He implored Allah to grant Bawa forgiveness and admit him into Jannatul Firdaus, the highest level of paradise.
His message also extended prayers to all others who have fallen victim to similar acts of violence.
“I write with a heavy heart to convey my heartfelt condolences to the family, the entire Gobir Emirate, and all those affected by the inhuman killing of His Highness Alhaji Isa Muhammad Bawa, the district head of Gatawa in Sokoto state, by evil people—bandits and kidnappers,” Pantami wrote in his post.
He further prayed for divine intervention against those responsible for the killing. Pantami expressed hope that the perpetrators would repent and turn away from their evil ways.
However, he also called for justice, urging that if these criminals do not change their ways, they should be exposed and dealt with by the Almighty Allah.
“We pray to Allah (SWT) to forgive and be merciful to him and admit him into Jannatul Firdaus. May He also be merciful to all those killed in the same way. For the criminals, if they will not repent and be guided, may the Almighty Allah expose and destroy them completely,” Pantami concluded.
The killing of Alhaji Isa Muhammad Bawa has sent shockwaves through the community, highlighting the ongoing security challenges in northern Nigeria, where banditry and kidnapping have become rampant.
Pantami’s statement reflects the collective grief and frustration over the worsening security situation and the urgent need for solutions to restore peace in the region.
