The Nigerian Air Force (NAF) says qualified Nigerians can now apply for the 2024 airmen and airwomen basic military training course.
In a statement issued on Wednesday August 21, Air Vice Marshal for the Chief of Air Staff, Ahmed Bakari, stated that suitably qualified applicants are to apply once online as multiple applications will lead to disqualification.
The statement noted that the acknowledgment form, parent/guardian consent form and local government attestation form should be printed out after the online application is completed.
It added that the documents should be signed by a military officer or a local government chairman.
“Applicants must be Nigerian citizens by birth, and possess National Identity Card/NIN or BVN,” the statement reads.
“Applicants must not be less than 1.66m height for males and 1.63m height for females.
“Applicants must be medically, physically and psychologically fit. Applicants must be free of any previous convictions on criminal grounds, by a court of law.” The explained further.
According to the statement, non-tradesmen and women must be between the ages of 18 and 22 years while those born before September 20, 2003 are not eligible.
The statement which emphasized that applicants must possess a minimum of five credits, including Mathematics and English, in not more than two sittings in WAEC, NECO, GCE and NABTEB added that tradesmen and women must be between the ages of 18 and 25 years, adding that applicants born before September 20, 2000, are not eligible.
However, applicants applying for chaplain, Imam assistant, drivers and mechanics must be between 18 and 28 years. And applicants for the above positions who were born before September 20, 1997, are not eligible.
“Applicants with ND/NCE must possess at least lower credit from accredited institutions and must possess a minimum of five credits, including Mathematics and English, in not more than two (2) sittings in WAEC/NECO/GCE/NABTEB,” he said.
The Nigerian Airforce which also maintained that applicants applying for driver, carpentry, mechanic, plumbing, masonry, electrician, painting, building technology among other skills must have trade test certificates, stated that these applicants must also have a minimum of two passes in WAEC/NECO/GCE/NABTEB with a credit in English Language.
Similarly, applicants for professions allied to medicine must have an ND from recognised Nigerian institutions and a valid practising licence.
Sports applicants must provide evidence of experience, including certificates and medals.
The statement noted that the online registration would run from August 21 to October 2, 2024 while the zonal recruitment general aptitude test will commence on October 8, 2024.
It added that all NAF registration and recruitment processes are free, and no payments are required at any stage.
