Emir of Minna Calls for Prayers and Attitudinal Change to Address Nigeria’s Security Challenges

The Emir of Minna, Alhaji (Dr.) Umaru Farouk Bahago, has called on Nigerians to earnestly pray for the resolution of the country’s ongoing security challenges and to adopt positive changes in their daily conduct. 

The Emir made this appeal during a visit from the National Chairman of the Advocacy for Integrity and Rule of Law Initiatives, Alhaji Mohammed Ibrahim Gamawa, and other executives of the organization, on Monday The visit took place at the Emir’s palace in Minna, the capital of Niger State.

In his remarks, the Emir stressed the importance of addressing the moral decay that has become prevalent in society.

He emphasized that the responsibility of curbing these societal ills lies with all patriotic citizens and well-meaning Nigerians.

According to him, the political class, in particular, needs to play a pivotal role in supporting efforts to restore integrity and moral values in the country.

The Emir further urged the involvement of key stakeholders in this endeavor, highlighting the significant roles that traditional and religious leaders, the academic community, private sector players, civil society groups, and youth associations can play in fostering an egalitarian society.

He assured the visiting delegation that the Minna Emirate Council would offer its full support and cooperation to ensure the success of the Initiative’s activities in the state.

Earlier in the meeting, Alhaji Mohammed Ibrahim Gamawa, the National Chairman of the Advocacy for Integrity and Rule of Law Initiatives, briefed the Emir on the establishment and ongoing activities of the Initiative within Niger State.

He explained that the organization was founded with the aim of rekindling patriotism and fostering national cohesion among Nigerians.

Additionally, the Initiative seeks to play a key role in combating corruption and other social vices that are undermining the country’s development.

Alhaji Gamawa requested the support and collaboration of the Emirate Council in the Initiative’s efforts to combat various forms of anti-social behavior among citizens.

He expressed optimism that with the backing of traditional institutions like the Minna Emirate Council, the Initiative could make a significant impact in reducing the prevalence of such negative behaviors.

The National Chairman also took the opportunity to express his sympathy to the Emirate Council over the frequent attacks by bandits in almost all the local government areas within the emirate.

He prayed for a swift end to the heinous acts being committed by suspected insurgent groups and armed bandits in the state.

Additionally, Alhaji Gamawa offered his condolences to the Emir over the recent collapse of a mining pit in Galadiman Kogo, located in the Shiroro Local Government Area, which resulted in the tragic loss of lives. He prayed for the eternal rest of those who perished in the accident.

Moreover, the Chairman extended his condolences to Dr. Umar Farouk Bahago regarding the passing of the former Chairman of Chanchaga Local Government Council, the late Alhaji Yakubu Sallau.

He prayed for God’s forgiveness for the deceased and for the strength and fortitude for the bereaved family and the emirate to bear the irreparable loss.

The visit concluded with the Emir reiterating his commitment to supporting initiatives that aim to promote integrity, the rule of law, and social cohesion within the communit
