The Yobe State Government has taken a significant step towards enhancing the infrastructure of its ministries by awarding a contract valued at N251,884,799.00 for the construction of a new office complex.
This permanent office building is intended to serve as the new headquarters for the Ministry of Housing and Urban Development.
The contract signing ceremony took place in Damaturu on Thursday, where the Commissioner of the Ministry of Housing and Urban Development, Architect Ahmad Buba Abba Kyari, officially signed the agreement with the construction firm BL-Clan Dynamic Ltd.
The construction of this new office edifice is scheduled to be completed within six months and will be situated within the premises of the Ibrahim Babangida State Secretariat Complex in Damaturu.
During the signing ceremony, Commissioner Kyari expressed his profound gratitude to the Governor of Yobe State, Mai Mala Buni, for his unwavering support to the Ministry.
He acknowledged the Governor’s commitment to the ministry’s objectives and goals, which made this significant project possible.
Kyari noted that the awarding of this contract marks a historic milestone in the ministry’s journey.
Since the separation of the Ministry of Housing and Urban Development from the defunct Ministry of Land in 2019, the ministry has been operating from a rented apartment.
The construction of the permanent office complex represents a long-awaited development that will greatly benefit the ministry and its staff.
The Commissioner emphasized that the new office complex will not only provide a conducive working environment for the ministry’s staff but will also significantly enhance their productivity and efficiency in delivering services to the people of Yobe State.
He urged the contractor to adhere strictly to the terms of the contract agreement, ensuring that the project is completed on time and according to the specified standards.
