Gombe State Gov’t Convenes Security Meeting to Address Nationwide Protests

Gombe State Governor, Muhammadu Inuwa Yahaya, convened a comprehensive security meeting on Tuesday to tackle the pressing security challenges facing the state, particularly in light of the threat of impending nationwide protests.
The meeting, held behind closed doors, brought together key stakeholders, including heads of security agencies in the state, local government chairmen, traditional rulers, and religious leaders.
This diverse assembly reviewed the current security situation in the country, with a special emphasis on the looming threat of protest.
Each participant shared their perspectives and suggestions on how best to navigate these challenging times and create a pathway towards a more secure and prosperous Gombe State.
Governor Yahaya, in his address, underscored the importance of maintaining peace and order, emphasizing that the safety of all residents of Gombe State remains a top priority for his administration.
Governor Yahaya urged leaders at various levels, along with security agencies, to collaborate closely and develop a cohesive strategy.
 This strategy should not only address immediate security concerns but also foster long-term stability and development in the state.
He reiterated the position of the Inspector-General of Police, stressing that all individuals planning to demonstrate or protest must properly identify themselves and follow the law by seeking the necessary security permissions and protection.
The governor assured the people of Gombe State that the government, in collaboration with security agencies and community leaders, is fully committed to safeguarding their well-being.
The meeting aimed to reinforce the government’s dedication to maintaining peace and order amid growing tensions and the threat of unrest.
The meeting saw the attendance of the Deputy Governor, Dr. Manassah Daniel Jatau, the Commissioner of Police, the State Director of Security, the Commander of the 301 Artillery Regiment, the Commandant of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps, heads of paramilitary organizations, Emirs and Chiefs, Local Government Council Chairmen, religious leaders, and relevant government officials.
This was detailed in a statement by Ismaila Uba Misilli, the Director-General of Press Affairs at the Government House, Gombe.
Governor Yahaya’s call for unity and proactive measures reflects his administration’s commitment to ensuring the safety and stability of Gombe State during these uncertain times.
