Nigerian Government to Pay Stipends to Unemployed Graduates -Minister

The Nigerian government has announced plans to support unemployed university and polytechnic graduates with stipends.

This initiative is part of a broader effort by President Bola Tinubu to enhance the welfare of Nigerian workers.

The Minister of Information and National Orientation, Mohammed Idris, revealed this development during a meeting with members of the Charismatic Bishop Conference in Abuja, on Wednesday.

He stated that young graduates who have completed their National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) and are unable to secure jobs will receive financial support from the government.

Idris emphasized the government’s commitment to alleviating the suffering of Nigerian workers through various policies and measures.

“There is a new policy that the President has formulated, which will begin to be seen very soon. All young men and women who have finished universities and polytechnics, have certificates, and have completed their mandatory NYSC but have not been able to get jobs, will receive something from the government to keep them afloat until they secure employment,” he said.

In addition to the stipends for unemployed graduates, Idris highlighted the introduction of the Compressed Natural Gas (CNG) policy by President Tinubu.

This policy is expected to significantly reduce transportation costs by about 60%, providing a cost-effective alternative to petrol and diesel.

He mentioned that future government procurement of vehicles and machinery would include CNG components.

The Minister also noted the substantial improvement in Nigeria’s security situation since President Tinubu took office.

He pointed out the remarkable improvements in various flashpoints, particularly the Abuja-Kaduna Expressway, which had previously been notorious for insecurity and danger to motorists.
