Nollywood veteran Binta Ayo Mogaji, known as Mama Insurance, shared her story about having her first child at 40 on the ‘Talk To B’ podcast.
She revealed that she had to have surgery to remove one of her fallopian tubes due to an ectopic pregnancy. Despite this, she was able to give birth naturally.
Mogaji had decided that if she didn’t have a child by the age of 40, she would adopt. She ended up having her son a few weeks after turning 40.
At that time, she and the father of her son didn’t want to get married.
She recounted, “The pregnancy was ectopic. I was taken to seven different hospitals, and the doctor doubted I would survive the next day. The surgery took about seven to nine hours, and my colleagues were crying when they visited me in the hospital. The surgeons removed one fallopian tube, but I was still able to have my child naturally.
“I stopped looking for a husband and focused on having a baby. I decided that if I didn’t have a baby by 40, I would adopt. My partner, Jibola, came into my life just before I turned 40, and I had my baby six weeks after I turned 40. But neither of us wanted to get married.”
