The Aide-de-Camp (ADC) to President Bola Tinubu, Lt. Col. Nurudeen Yusuf, has been appointed as the new King of Ilemona Town in Kwara State.Â
This new role is expected to benefit the local community, as Yusuf brings his extensive leadership experience to foster development and unity in Ilemona Town.
As the new monarch, Lt. Col. Yusuf will oversee both traditional and administrative affairs, continuing the legacy of his predecessors while working towards the prosperity and growth of the town.
Yusuf is the son of the late monarch, Oba Yusuf Omokanye Oyekanmi, the former Elemona of Ilemona in the Oyun Local Government Area of Kwara State.
Yusuf’s educational background includes an Ordinary National Diploma in Computer Science from Offa Polytechnic, which he completed in 2000.
He then enrolled in the Nigerian Defence Academy in Kaduna, where he graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Electrical-Electronics Engineering. In 2004 and 2005, he attended the Royal Military Academy Sandhurst (RMAS) in the United Kingdom.
In 2006, Yusuf furthered his education at the Nigerian Army Intelligence School in Lagos, where he was trained in intelligence and security.
He continued his military education in 2007 by attending the Young Officer’s Course Infantry at NASI in Kaduna, gaining skills in using various weapon systems and special operations.
Yusuf’s training continued with the Tactical Intelligence Officers and Security Investigations courses in 2008, enhancing his capabilities as a military officer.
 Between 2009 and 2018, he participated in various military training programs in Mali, Pakistan, China, Israel, and the United Kingdom, including the Military Intelligence Basic Officers Course in Mali and the Junior Staff Course in China.
He also attended the Officers Advanced Intelligence Course in Pakistan and the Advanced Command and Staff Course in the UK.
In addition to his military training, Yusuf earned a master’s degree in Defence Studies from King’s College London in 2018 and a postgraduate diploma in Peace Studies and Conflict Resolution from the National Open University (NOUN).
 He recently completed a military course designed for Commanding Officers in Jaji, Kaduna, before his appointment as the ADC to President Tinubu.
Throughout his career, Yusuf has taken numerous courses, including the Joint Information Course in Darfur, Sudan, the Humanitarian Recovery and Development Unit Course in Sudan, Basic Counter Terrorism Training in Kontagora, VIP Protection Leadership Training in Israel, UN Military Observers Course in Egypt, and Joint Basic French Courses in both Abuja and Paris.
Commissioned into the Officers Cadre from the Royal Military Academy Sandhurst in 2005, Yusuf held various roles, including Military Assistant to the Chief of Training/Operations at Army Headquarters and Assistant Director of Intelligence/Security.
From 2020 to 2022, he served at the Nigerian Defence Section in Paris, France, before he was appointed Tinubu’s ADC.
His last role before becoming the king was as a Staff Officer at the Headquarters of the NAIC in Abuja.
