The Kaduna State Police Command has arrested four officers who were captured in a viral video attempting to strangle a suspect.Â
The video, which was posted on X, shows the officers trying to force the suspect into a Toyota Camry car.
In the footage, the officers can be seen holding the suspect by the neck as they attempt to push him into the vehicle.
The scene took place amid the shouts of concerned residents, who were urging the police officers to leave the suspect alone.
The confrontation between the police and the residents eventually led the officers to abandon the suspect and drive away from the scene.
Responding to the incident, Mansir Hassan, the police spokesperson for Kaduna State, confirmed that the event occurred in Kaduna South Local Government Area.
He identified the officers involved as two inspectors, Ibrahim Daniel and Ezekiel Marcus, and two corporals, Isyaku James and Paul Asha.
In a statement, Hassan conveyed the strong condemnation of the act by the Commissioner of Police, Audu Ali Dabigi, psc.
“Commissioner of Police, CP Audu Ali Dabigi, psc, has strongly condemned this act and assured the public that such misconduct will not be tolerated under his leadership,” the statement read.
The Commissioner has ordered a swift and thorough investigation into the incident to ensure that justice is served.
He has also called on the public to continue supporting the police by reporting similar incidents and assured that a full-scale investigation into the case has been launched.
The police command’s response aims to restore public trust and demonstrate its commitment to accountability and justice within the force.
