Patrick Doyle Warns Against Seeking Validation from the Entertainment Industry: A Reflection on Tems’ BET Award Win

Popular Nigerian filmmaker, Patrick Doyle, recently expressed his belief that the entertainment industry is under the influence of evil forces.

He made these remarks following singer Tems’ unexpected win of the Best Gospel Award at the 2024 BET Awards, held in Downtown Los Angeles.

 

Tems, known for her secular music, caused a stir among traditional gospel musicians who felt overlooked by her recognition in a category typically reserved for religious music.

 

Doyle took to Facebook to share his thoughts on the matter, advising gospel artists to refrain from seeking approval from what he described as the “entertainment industry mafia.” In his post, he emphasized that these institutions are transient and, in his view, controlled by malevolent forces.
