Nigerian singer Odumodublvck recently praised fellow artists Ayra Starr and Tems for their success in the music industry despite the challenges they face as women.
In an interview with Madam Joyce on her podcast, he shared a story about meeting Tems on a flight to London. He congratulated her and Ayra Starr, saying their achievements are greater than those of male artists like Wizkid and Burna Boy.
Odumodublvck highlighted the significant issue of female artists being asked for sexual favors by music producers and show promoters. He emphasized that this makes their success even more impressive.
He said, “Out of every 10 show promoters, five want to have sex with you. Out of 10 producers, five want to sleep with you. And out of 10 artists you admire or want help from, many also want to exploit you.”

He expressed deep admiration for these women, acknowledging the difficult circumstances they navigate to make great music. “I can’t imagine being in that situation. Dodging all those advances and still creating good music is incredible,” he said.
Odumodublvck further commented on the challenges of being an artist, noting that it is already a tough job due to the massive competition and lack of guaranteed income. “It took me five or six years to get my first good check. Now imagine being a woman and an artist and still making it.”
He concluded his thoughts with a round of applause for the female artists who have managed to succeed in such a challenging industry.
