Uba Sani Stood For Us During Our Years In Prison, El-rufai Unknown -Shehu Sani Clarifies

Former Senator Shehu Sani has clarified that it was the incumbent governor of Kaduna state Uba Sani who stood for them during their years in prison and not his predecessor, Nasir El-rufai.

The human rights activist made this clarifications in a post on his X handle.

“I wish to make this correction erroneously published in some media houses. What I said at the venue of the democracy day event was that; the Man who stood for us during our years in prison, in the 90s, was the present Governor of Kaduna State and not the immediate past one.” He stated.

The lawmaker revealed that Governor Uba maintained the contact between them and their families and took the baton of the struggle to Northern Nigeria.

He said that Uba Sani kept in touch with the pro-democracy and progressive forces, until he (Uba Sani) was later apprehended by the DSS, released, rearrested and beaten by the Nigerian Police.

“Falana, Mike Ozekhome, Femi Aborishade, Col Umar, Mrs Obe, Mrs Odumakin, John Danfulani, Kalat Ali, Nike Kuti and Agbakoba can attest to this.

“The former Kaduna Governor is unknown during the struggle.” Sani added.

Recall that during an event organized to commemorate Nigeria’s Democracy Day on June 12th 2024, the ex-lawmaker had extolled notable Nigerians for their struggle in entrenching the tenants of democracy.
