BECE: Anambra Govt insists on Zero Tolerance Stance for Malpractice

Anambra State government says it is not going back on its stance on zero malpractice in the ongoing Basic Education Certificate Examination (BECE) in the state.

The State Commissioner for Education, Prof Ngozi Chuma-Udeh gave the assurance over the weekend, during a courtesy visit of BECE Monitoring team from the Federal Ministry of Education in her office.

The Commissioner explained that the visit was to ensure conformity in all educational spaces in the nation, that all due processes were observed, as well as ensure there were no irregularities in the conduct of the examination.

She said, “The ultimate goal of this administration is to produce a school environment devoid of malpractices and to raise children that are skillful and technologically empowered to face the world

“Anambra State education system is recording zero malpractice in the examination, in WAEC, NECO, and other exams. We’ve put our feet down and stamped out corruption from the education sector in the state.”

Expressing joy at the visit, Chuma-Udeh who also monitored the exercise in one of the centers in the state, reassured the team of zero malpractice exercise in line with the vision of Governor Chukwuma Soludo who is passionate about education.

She said, “We’re happy to receive the contingent of BECE Monitoring team from the Federal Ministry of Education.

“They were here to ensure conformity in all educational spaces in the nation and to ensure all due processes are observed in the exercise.

“The visit was also to ensure there were no irregularities in the conduct of the exams. Anambra State is above board when it comes to examination.

“I’m assuring them of a zero malpractice exercise which is in line with the vision of Governor Soludo who is passionate about education.”
