Nigerians Don’t Understand My Music but Appreciate Me as a Person-Tems

Grammy-winning Nigerian singer Temilade Openiyi, known as Tems, believes that Nigerians do not understand her music. While she is unsure if they appreciate her music, she does feel personally appreciated by Nigerians.

Tems shared these thoughts in a teaser for the upcoming episode of “Flow with Korty.” She stated, “Nigerians don’t understand my music. I don’t know if they appreciate it, but I feel appreciated as a person by Nigerians.”

She noted that it’s uncommon for a Nigerian artist to create her type of music.

Tems also mentioned that she is not interested in being seen as a sex symbol and is focused on her work in the music industry. She said, “I used to not always like my body. If my being attractive is bothering you, I will help you. So I go to studios in baggy clothes and my alpha mode; I don’t want you to be distracted by me.”
