Adamawa State Government Allocates N2.3bn to Rebuild High Court Complex

The Attorney General and Commissioner for Justice, Iframond Jingi, announced this in an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria on Wednesday in Yola.

 He stated that the funds would remodel the state high court into a premier facility for justice delivery in Nigeria.

According to Jingi, this initiative is part of the governor’s commitment over the past year to ensure effective justice delivery in the state.

“The renovated complex will provide judges with a conducive environment to administer justice effectively and efficiently. It will also enable lawyers practicing in these courts to enhance justice delivery, allowing citizens to see justice being delivered promptly,” he said.

The commissioner highlighted another achievement of Ahmadu Fintiri’s administration: prioritizing the welfare of judges and staff, which has greatly motivated the judicial workforce.

On the subject of judicial autonomy, Jingi noted that the Adamawa judiciary gained autonomy two years ago, which is now actively in practice.

“Two years ago, the governor signed a law granting autonomy to the judiciary and the state assembly. Since then, a committee ensures that funds are allocated to each sector without government interference as soon as they are received,” he explained.

Jingi added that the Fintiri administration has provided additional support beyond their entitlements to ensure excellence in job execution and avoid any deficiencies.

The Attorney General also mentioned that the current administration has domesticated the Violence Against Persons Prohibition (VAPP) Act. He explained that the VAPP Act protects citizens’ rights from all forms of violence and is actively used in cases involving human rights violations in the state.

Jingi praised the governor for his financial prudence and diligence, noting that many sectors have benefited from people-oriented projects under his administration.
