Sam Adeyemi Reveals Reasons for Leaving Nigeria and Relocating to the US

Senior Pastor of Daystar Christian Centre, Sam Adeyemi, recently opened up about his decision to relocate to the United States.

In an episode of the “Mic On Podcast,” Adeyemi revealed that his family had been residing in the U.S. since the COVID-19 pandemic in 2020. He explained that their initial plan to return to Nigeria was disrupted by the violence following the EndSARS protests against police brutality.

“When COVID-19 started, all our children were in the US, so everyone stayed with their families. We stayed with our children. The week services resumed was when EndSARS started, so we were preparing to return to Nigeria. When the EndSARS protests ended in violence, we stayed back a bit,” Adeyemi said.

The pastor shared that unsettling dreams further influenced their decision to stay in the U.S. His wife first dreamt about a problematic trip to Nigeria, followed by his vivid dream of being violently attacked. These experiences led them to believe they were receiving divine warnings.

“My wife had a dream in which she traveled to Nigeria and returned to the US, which was a bad dream. I told her I would not say I liked this dream. Three days later, I had a dream. We both traveled to Nigeria in my dream, and I was in a big fight,” he recounted.

After consulting with family members and the leaders of Daystar Christian Centre, who expressed concerns and supported his decision, Adeyemi decided to remain in the U.S.

“They said you’ve never deceived us before. If God asks you to stay, stay as long as He directs. We’ll continue this journey,” he stated.
