Lagos State Launches Cybersecurity Operations Centre to Safeguard Digital Infrastructure

Lagos State Government has inaugurated a new Cybersecurity Operations Centre (CSOC) aimed at bolstering its defenses against cyber threats.
This initiative, announced by state officials, marks a significant step towards ensuring the security of digital systems within Lagos.
The CSOC, equipped with state-of-the-art technologies and staffed by cybersecurity experts, will actively monitor, detect, and respond to cyber incidents in real-time.
This proactive approach is intended to safeguard critical digital infrastructure across the state.
In addition to the CSOC, Lagos has established a Cybersecurity Council tasked with advising on cybersecurity policies and programs.
Collaborations with cybersecurity firms and international organizations are also underway to enhance the state’s cybersecurity capabilities.
Furthermore, the government has launched the Data Protection Compliance Project to ensure secure data transactions and uphold privacy standards.
The initiative shows Lagos State’s commitment to modernizing its digital infrastructure while prioritizing cybersecurity.
Parallel to these efforts, the MetroFibre project is expanding the city’s fiber optic network, supporting its ambition to foster a 24-hour driven economy.
Additionally, the Safe City Project is set to deploy intelligent video surveillance cameras across strategic locations to bolster security measures.
Lagos now stands as the first Nigerian state to establish a dedicated CSOC, aligning its cybersecurity initiatives with national efforts spearheaded by ngCERT.
