Netflix has announced plans to discontinue its apps for Windows 11 and Windows 10 from June.
Instead, the streaming giant intends to introduce a progressive web app (PWA) for these platforms.
This move aims to enhance video streaming quality and provide access to live events through the new app.
However, this change means that offline viewing will no longer be supported on Windows devices.
Currently, users can download content in up to 1080p resolution on Windows, but after the update, downloads will only be possible on supported mobile devices.
Additionally, the updated app will introduce an ad-supported tier, offering content at a reduced price with advertisements.
Due to licensing constraints, some titles may not be available on this tier.
Netflix has assured users that those with automatic updates enabled will receive the new app seamlessly once it becomes available.
