Actor Femi Adebayo Takes Stand Against Film Piracy in Nigeria

Nollywood actor Femi Adebayo is worried about the rising problem of film piracy in Nigeria. He shared his recent experience with piracy on Instagram, explaining how it affects filmmakers’ earnings.

Adebayo highlighted that despite the growth of the Nigerian film industry, piracy prevents filmmakers from fully benefiting. This discourages investors from supporting filmmakers. He emphasized the need for persistence and legal action against piracy.

He recounted his legal battle with a media company that used his movie’s title and poster to promote a different film, costing him revenue. After three years, he won the case with the help of his legal team, Bola Adebowale & Co Legal Practitioners, and was awarded twenty-five million Naira.

Adebayo stressed the importance of filmmakers fighting against piracy to protect their intellectual property and earn their rightful income. He sees each victory as a step toward securing the economic value of their work and safeguarding the industry.
