Arsenal Maintains Title Aspirations Following Victory over Tottenham

—

Arsenal extended their lead at the summit of the English Premier League table with four points clear of close rival City, who has two games in hand after another terrific victory over Tottenham Hotspur at the White Hart Lane Stadium.

In the first half, Arsenal took the lead with an own goal by Hojbjerg in the 15th minute. Goals from Bukayo Saka and Kai Havertz in the 27th and 38th minutes respectively extended Arsenal’s lead to a commanding 3-0 at halftime.

Despite only managing two shots on target, Arsenal’s performance was positive, meanwhile, Tottenham controlled the game earning 71% possession compared to Arsenal’s 29%.

In the 64th minute, after the second half had commenced, Cristian Romero pulled one back for Spur. Arsenal conceded a penalty, after VAR consultation, the penalty stood. Heung-min Son put the spot kick beyond the reach of David Raya as the score becomes 2-3.

The destiny of Arsenal now relies on City dropping points, as Liverpool are no longer considered in the title race.
