Ghana TV Host Serwaa Amihere Apologizes for Leaked Video, Police Hunt Ex-Lover

—

Popular Ghanaian TV presenter Serwaa Amihere has spoken out for the first time since the circulation of an intimate video involving her and a man identified as Henry Fitz.

The perpetrators behind the leak of the video allegedly demanded money from Serwaa in exchange for not leaking the video. Despite receiving payment, they still proceeded to publish the video online.

The video, which was recorded five years ago, sparked widespread controversy and embarrassment for Serwaa, her family, and the brands she endorses.

Addressing the issue, Serwaa issued a heartfelt apology through a statement shared on her Instagram account. Serwaa acknowledged the impact of the video, stating:

“On April 2, 2024, someone posted an intimate video of me on the internet. This came almost 5 months after threats and extortion, along with efforts by the police to bring the extortionists to book.

The video (which was made 5 years ago) has severely embarrassed me, my family, and my loved ones. It has also exposed my employers and the businesses and brands I represent to embarrassment.

Additionally, the video has been a source of frustration to all who have been my support, inspiration, and encouragement throughout my journey in the media.

At the time, 5 years ago, I considerably underestimated the extent of my influence, my potential, what I would become, and what I would come to represent to this society.

Sincerely, I say sorry for the embarrassment, disappointment, and frustration that this matter has caused to my family and loved ones, to the distinguished businesses and brands I represent, and to you.

In all, I have learned deeply useful lessons for the future.”

Three individuals have been charged in connection with the case.

Edem Saviour Ketti, Candylove Ababio, and Henry Amponsah (also known as Henry Fitz).

However, according to reports, Henry Fitz, the main suspect, is currently at large.

The police have launched a manhunt to apprehend him. Meanwhile, the other two suspects are facing legal proceedings for their alleged involvement in the extortion and dissemination of the video.
