The Kano State Government, led by Acting Commissioner of Youths and Sports, Hon. Hamza Safiyanu Kachako, has issued a stern directive to Kano Pillars Football Club, amidst their recent struggles in the ongoing 2023/24 Nigeria Premier Football League season.
Concerned over the team’s lackluster performance in recent matches, which has led to a decline in the league standings, Hon. Kachako highlighted the government’s commitment to supporting the team under Governor Abba Yusuf’s leadership.
In response to Kano Pillars’ recent setbacks, including a 2-1 defeat to Bendel Insurance of Benin, a 1-2 loss to Shooting Stars at home, and a crushing 5-0 defeat to Enyimba International, Hon. Kachako emphasized the need for urgent action to reverse the team’s fortunes.
The statement made it clear that the government would not idly watch as the beloved Kano team continued to struggle.
Addressing the management and technical crew of Kano Pillars, Hon. Kachako outlined a challenging task ahead, giving them a three-game ultimatum to turn things around.
The directive starts with their upcoming match against struggling Gombe United, followed by an away fixture against former champions Akwa United, and a home encounter against Doma United of Gombe.
Currently positioned in 7th place on the Nigeria Premier Football League table with 41 points from 30 matches, Kano Pillars are urged to secure maximum points in these crucial fixtures to salvage their season.
To facilitate their efforts, the ministry has allocated necessary funds for Kano Pillars FC to complete its remaining matches in the league, with Governor Yusuf’s approval underscoring the state government’s dedication to promoting sports within the region.
Expressing gratitude to Governor Yusuf for his steadfast support of the team, Hon. Kachako called upon loyal fans to continue backing Kano Pillars during this critical period.
The statement reflects the government’s firm stance on the importance of sports development and its commitment to ensuring the success of Kano Pillars Football Club.
