A viral video that features former Super Eagles captain Ahmed Musa and Kano state governor Abba Kabir Yusuf has stirred reactions on social media.
In the video, the former Super Eagles striker shakes hands and prostrates for a dignitary but avoids shaking Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf’s hand—instead, he squats while extending his fist, saying ‘Rankadede.’
While some interpreted this as disrespectful, particularly from individuals in the northern part of Nigeria, others noted that it was a sign of respect in Hausa culture. Musa’s action was seen as a gesture of reverence towards an elderly person.
Despite differing opinions, many defended Musa’s actions, citing cultural norms and traditions.
