Google to Shut Down Podcasts App in the America, Urges Users to Migrate to YouTube Music

In a strategic move to consolidate its audio services, Google has announced the shutdown of its Podcasts app in the United States.
With over 500 million global installations, the Podcasts app provided users with a seamless platform for discovering and enjoying podcasts.
However, Google has revealed plans to discontinue the app, urging users to transition their subscriptions to YouTube Music by April 2, 2024.
This decision comes as Google aims to centralize its audio offerings under the YouTube platform.
YouTube Music, which now supports podcasts worldwide and allows users to upload their RSS feeds, presents an all-encompassing solution for audio content consumption.
The migration to YouTube Music not only ensures continuity for podcast enthusiasts but also aligns with Google’s broader strategy to expand its presence in the podcasting realm, particularly with the rising popularity of video podcasts.
While users in the U.S. will have until the end of March 2024 to utilize the Podcasts app, they are encouraged to export their subscriptions before the final shutdown in July 2024.
Google plans to follow a phased approach, discontinuing Google Podcasts globally throughout 2024.
This move echoes Google’s previous transition strategy witnessed with the shutdown of Google Play Music in 2020.
However, the tech giant has not disclosed a specific timeline for discontinuing the Podcasts app in other regions, leaving users worldwide awaiting further updates.
