Roméo Lavia to miss the rest of the season following a setback in recovery

Chelsea Football Club today has provided an update on their midfielder, Roméo Lavia who is set to be sidelined for the rest of the season following a set back in recovery from injury.

“Midfielder Roméo Lavia is to unfortunately miss the remainder of our 2023-24 campaign following a setback in his recovery.”

According to the club, his medical assessment has indicated that the Belgium recovery has encountered a huge setback and won’t be fit to play anymore this season.

“Recent medical assessments have confirmed that Lavia, who sustained a significant thigh injury against Crystal Palace back in December, will not feature again this season.”

The 20 years old joined the Blues from Southampton after rejecting Liverpool offers together with Ecuadorian teammate Moises Caicedo who joined the club for a record fee of £115m. Since making his £58m mega transfer to London, he has played 32 minutes in the Premier League for Chelsea against Crystal Palace in December last year.
