Two Terrorist Leaders Surrender to MNJTF in Lake Chad

In the Lake Chad region area of Borno State, two Terrorists leaders of a group called Boko Haram surrendered to a team of soldiers known as the Multinational Joint Task Force (MNJTF). 

These leaders, named Ibrahim Muhammed and Auwal Muhammed (also known as Wanka), decided to give up to the troops from Sector 3 MNJTF in Nigeria on March 25, 2024.

The MNJTF spokesperson, Lt. Col Abubakar Abdullahi, explained that the surrender happened because of increased military actions against terrorist groups in the area.

Ibrahim and Auwal, who were active commanders on the Lake Chad Islands, confessed during initial questioning that they had been part of the Bakoura Buduma-led faction of Boko Haram for 15 years.

They operated mainly in Kwallaram, a location within the Lake Chad Islands. They handed over their weapons as part of their surrender.

Ibrahim gave up one AK-47 rifle, three magazines for the rifle, 90 rounds of ammunition, one magazine carrier, and a mobile phone.

Auwal surrendered one AK-47 rifle, five magazines, 101 rounds of ammunition, one mobile phone, one magazine carrier, two hand grenades, and one handheld radio.

Borno State has experienced numerous attacks by the terrorist group Boko Haram since 2009 up to the present time, resulting in a significant loss of life.

Many innocent people have tragically lost their lives due to these relentless attacks, causing immense suffering and hardship for the affected communities.
