Hisbah Warns Non-Muslims In Kano Against Eating Publicly During Ramadan Fasting

The Kano State Hisbah Board Department of Public Enlightenment has cautioned non-Muslims in the state against eating in public places during Ramadan fasting.

According to the Director-General of the Board, Abba Sai’Idu who revealed this in a chat with AIT Live, it is unlawful for Christians and other non-Muslims to eat openly or do anything publicly that would undermine the Islamic religion or subject those fasting into temptation by their actions.

Sai’Idu further stated that as the month of fasting progresses, the enforcement team would be carrying out more frequent patrols across the city to arrest any Muslim caught engaging in any practice that is not in line with Islamic culture.

He reiterated that during the Holy Month of Ramadan, Muslims are expected to abstain from eating, drinking, sex intercourse and smoking during the daytime and other acts not allowed by the Holy Quran.

Meanwhile, in the previous years, the Kano State Hisbah Board has been known to apprehend persons seen eating while observing fasting.
