The Nigeria Police Force, on Thursday, revealed that preliminary investigations have uncovered compelling evidence implicating Mrs. Chioma Okoli in the alleged violation of existing laws in the Erisco Tomato saga. The Force cautioned the public against spreading misinformation and attempting to manipulate public sentiment, emphasizing that the law operates impartially, and any attempts to subvert it will face full legal repercussions.
ACP Olumuyiwa Adejobi, the Force’s Public Relations Officer, condemned the recent developments in the case, particularly criticizing the use of crowdfunding to influence legal proceedings. Adejobi stressed the importance of upholding the rule of law and warned that such actions undermine the integrity of the justice system, posing a threat to fairness and accountability.
The involvement of Mrs. Chioma in the case, according to Adejobi, warrants scrutiny as she is accused of violating various sections of the Cybercrime (Prohibition, Prevention, etc) Act, 2015. He reiterated the police’s commitment to enforcing all laws without bias or favoritism.
Adejobi called for Mrs. Chioma to cease jumping bail and appear in court to allow justice to take its course. The statement concluded by urging Nigerians, especially social media influencers, to embrace the rule of law and refrain from displaying sentiments that could pervert justice.
